Forbes Ukraine features SPP Development Ukraine founders Roman Petruchenko and Nadiia Petruchenko on distributed generation, international capital and investor trust

Forbes Ukraine published two materials featuring SPP Development Ukraine co-founders Roman and Nadiia Petruchenko, where they shared their expertise on the development of energy infrastructure and investment opportunities in Ukraine.

In the materials, SPP Development Ukraine co-founders share their vision of distributed generation as a foundation for a more resilient energy system in Ukraine, analyze the prospects for attracting international capital, investors’ approaches to evaluating potential partners, and the role of transparency, integrity and compliance with international standards in attracting investment.

Who invests and under what conditions

Roman Petruchenko, Co-Founder and CEO of SPP Development Ukraine Group, outlined his vision of financing energy projects and the criteria international investors use when assessing Ukrainian companies in Forbes Ukraine.

Financing Ukraine’s energy sector requires a combination of different instruments: resources from international financial institutions, private capital, bank lending, as well as guarantee and grant mechanisms.

According to Roman Petruchenko, investors evaluate not only the project itself, but also the company’s ability to bring it from concept to an operational asset. Key factors include transparency of the corporate structure, technical readiness, project economics, compliance with international standards, and a team capable of implementing and managing the asset.

Different types of investors have their own evaluation criteria: international financial institutions focus on the systemic impact of a project, strategic investors consider long-term potential, while financial investors assess risks and returns.

Roman Petruchenko emphasizes that international due diligence is not a barrier but a quality filter. Companies need to prepare projects in advance in line with international requirements and demonstrate experience in their implementation.

Integrity as a foundation of investor trust

Nadiia Petruchenko, Co-Founder and Chief Business Officer of SPP Development Ukraine, shared her insights with Forbes Ukraine on the importance of integrity and transparency in attracting international capital.

For companies working with international partners and investors, integrity today goes beyond reputation. It has become a practical requirement for accessing financing, strategic partnerships and large-scale projects.

Investors evaluate not only a company’s technical capabilities or the economics of an individual project. Other important factors include transparent business processes, the quality of corporate governance, compliance with international standards, and the ability to operate according to the requirements of international financial institutions.

According to Nadiia Petruchenko, trust is one of the company’s key assets when working with partners. Transparent processes, a responsible approach to project implementation and adherence to international practices create the foundation for long-term development and attracting new capital to Ukraine’s energy sector.
