Supporting local communities: SPP Development Ukraine helps address household waste challenges in Zhytomyr region

A regular household waste collection service has been introduced in a village in Zhytomyr region. Previously, organizing such a service was challenging due to limited community resources and certain legal constraints that further delayed the process.

One of SPP Development Ukraine’s core values is implementing sustainable solutions that deliver long-term benefits for local communities in Ukraine. That is why the company took responsibility for organizing and financing cooperation between the local village council and a municipal utility serving neighboring settlements. This included providing waste containers, establishing designated collection points, and arranging a weekly schedule for transporting waste to a recycling facility in Zhytomyr.

Today, residents of the village benefit from a regular and organized waste collection service. This support is part of SPP Development Ukraine’s ongoing engagement with local communities. The company is a participant in the United Nations Global Compact and, as part of this commitment, implements a range of initiatives – from environmental and social programs to supporting educational and community projects.

This waste collection initiative is one of many examples that show how these ESG-principles are put into practice at a concrete, local level.
